Location | |
This allows you to set up multiple locations if you tend to move around a lot, so that dialling is adjusted based on the country and area code that you are in.

Setting the country and area code
Choose the country from the drop-list. If the exact country isn't listed, choose the country with the same country code as the one you require. Enter your local area code as someone would dial it from within the same country. To set rules about whether to dial a 1 before the area code, click the ![]() |

For an outside line... | |
If this is ticked, the number in the first box will be dialled, followed by a pause of the number of seconds specified in the second box (between 0 and 9), in order to get an outside line. If this is unticked, you must have direct access to an outside line. |

Withhold my CallerID by dialling...
Normally when you dial out, the person you are calling will receive a CallerID signal (your phone number) so they know who you are. If you don't want people to know your number, and your phone network supports it, you should be able to prefix your number with a code to withhold your CallerID. If this is ticked, the number in the first box will be dialled, followed by a pause of the number of seconds specified in the second box (between 0 and 9), in order to withhold your CallerID. If this is unticked, your CallerID will be sent, assuming this happens automatically anyway. |
||
Note When you select the country, the code for witholding CallerID will appear in the box, but it may need to be changed if you use a different service provider.

Disable Call Waiting by dialling...
If you call someone who uses their phone for fax and data as well as calls, you can do them a big favour by not interrupting their call with a Call Waiting beep if you try to ring them while they're downloading illegal MP3 files or whatever, as this may well interrupt their connection. If your phone network supports it, you can prevent interrupting a busy line by prefixing your number with a code. If this is ticked, the number in the first box will be dialled, followed by a pause of the number of seconds specified in the second box (between 0 and 9), in order to prevent the Call Waiting beep at the other end. If this is unticked, and the person you're calling is on the phone, they will hear the Call Waiting beep. |

Show exactly what number is being dialled
If this is ticked then when the dialling pop-up window appears, you will see exactly what is being dialled including pauses. This is useful if you are trying to figure out why dialling isn't working. If this is unticked then when the dialling pop-up window appears, you will see the same number as the one that you chose to dial. |
